Thermal waste treatment

We bring out
the Best

Resource conservation defines clear goals: We must reduce waste and recycle intelligently. However, despite the growing circular economy and recycling, a waste-free world will remain a utopia for the foreseeable future. In figures: In the region, private consumption and commercial production continue to generate residual waste. The final destination for around 120,000 tons is SRS EcoTherm GmbH's TAS in Salzbergen, which has been certified as a waste management company for many years. Every day, waste is converted into energy here. Safely and efficiently. In this way, we create a strong plus for the environment.

330.000
Citizens

That's how many people live in the district of Emsland.

120.000
Tons

This is the amount of household and commercial waste that TAS can incinerate and recycle each year.

1.000
Tons

This is the storage capacity of the waste bunker. Its trough shape protects the groundwater.

850
Degrees Celsius

This is the minimum temperature below which combustion must not take place.

50
Tons

This is the amount of steam that is fed into the industrial power plant and converted into electricity every hour.

Costs:

Investments costs of € 50 million

Type of plant:

One incineration line,
furnace with push grate

Type of waste:

Residual waste (contents of the "grey bin"),
commercial waste

Catchment area:

Residual district of Emsland (communal waste)
Netherlands
Supraregional commercial waste

Power generation:

At nominal plant capacity approx. 50 tonnes of steam per hour. All the steam is coupled into the industrial power plant (Industriekraftwerk, IKW) and converted into electricity at CHP plants. The decoupled heat is used to supply the refinery situated at the location with process steam.

Emissions:

Modern filtering technology means that emissions are considerably below the strict threshold limit values as set out by the 17th BImSchV.
Siehe aktuelle Emissionswerte.

Plant personnel:

TAS, IKW plant operations: Continuous multi-shift operation.

Tour of the plants:

by appointment
Number of participants: 20
Duration: approx. 90 minutes
