 Energy concept

Energy
by a short route

As renewable energy sources, wind, water and sun save fossil fuels. However, energy can also be generated from waste in a climate-friendly and, above all, reliable way. TAS uses the energy potential of non-recyclable residual waste and supplies the neighboring H&R Chemisch-pharmazeutische Spezialitäten GmbH with process heat and electricity around the clock. A modern energy concept, characterized by the high efficiency of combined heat and power generation and the short distance between the generating TAS and the consuming H&R.

§ 1 General

Only combustible waste that is listed in the waste type catalogue approved for the TAS and for which there is valid proof of the feasibility of disposal will be accepted. Deliveries must be as free from non-combustible material as possible. The flashpoint of the material delivered must not be below 80°C; the ignition temperature not below 100°C.

Should the delivered waste not fulfil these conditions of acceptance, delivery will be refused at the TAS. Private deliveries will not be accepted.

Pollutants and mis-sorts that do not fulfil the conditions of acceptance and are not recognised until after they have been deposited in the bunker will be separated and disposed of professionally for a fee.

§ 2 Waste in dust form

Waste in dust form is only accepted in connection with binding agents or compressed so that dust formation is safely prevented when the material is treated at the TAS.

§ 3 Slurry

Slurry may only be delivered in compact form. Its DM content and shear strength must be coordinated with the TAS before delivery. It must not contain any organic solvents or free water.

§ 4 Bulky waste

Bulky waste objects whose dimensions are larger than 80 x 80cm (e.g. furniture, construction and demolition wood, wooden packaging) must be delivered individually and only after prior agreement. Metal packaging will only be accepted emptied of all residue.

§ 5 Hoses, bands and wound material

Hoses, bands, wound material etc. are only accepted if they have cut down to max. 80 cm.

§ 6 Plastic waste

The PVC content in waste that contains it must not exceed 5%. Monobatches of waste containing PVC will not be accepted.

Plastics containing fluorine (e.g. teflon, viton etc.) as well as GRP and CFRP and their fiber ingredients are not accepted.

Delivery of monobatches of other plastic waste must be agreed on beforehand with the Waste Management Logistics department.

§ 7 Liquid waste

Liquids of all kinds are excluded from acceptance.

§ 8 Permitted maximum values of harmful substances

Only non-hazardous waste (according to acceptance catalog and GCU) and the following maximum levels of pollutants are permitted:

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) up to 20 mg/kg
Pentachlorophenol (PCP) up to 20 mg/kg
PAH up to 25 mg/kg
Chlorine up to 1 wt%

1 General

1.1 The Salzbergen Thermal Waste Treatment Plant – referred to in the following as the TAS – is located at D-48499 Salzbergen, Neuenkirchenerstr. 8

1.2 The TAS accepts waste from public regional authorities, industrial and commercial companies in consideration of the legal provisions regarding waste disposal.

2 Condition of the waste

2.1 Waste that is listed in the approved waste type catalogue and the conditions of acceptance of the TAS may be accepted (see separate documents). There must be no risk of negative effects on persons or objects from the waste during delivery, storage or incineration.

2.2 If additional costs are incurred by the TAS through the delivery of inappropriate waste, such as for the disposal of waste that is not in line with specifications, contaminants (including disinfection, if necessary) or firefighting operations, these will be charged to the deliverer.

3 Delivery times and conduct on the company premises

3.1 Opening times for delivery are as follows: Monday – Friday 7 am - 5 pm.

3.2 If so required, waste can be delivered at other times after prior agreement. Information on this is available from the Waste Management Logistics department.

3.3 The stipulations of the German road traffic regulations (Straßenverkehrsordnung, StVO) apply within the company premises for all traffic participants and pedestrians. Deliverers and visitors are obliged to observe the traffic and other signs and the prohibition signs.

3.4 Appropriate vehicles must be used for transporting the waste; they must adhere to the road traffic regulations and the accident prevention regulations for vehicles and waste disposal. The vehicles must be able to be emptied with the help of motor and/or hydraulic drives. Vehicles must not be emptied manually for safety reasons.

3.5 Particular attention must be paid when driving into the manoeuvring and tipping areas.

3.6 When reversing vehicles on the premises of the TAS, it must be ensured that no one is endangered. For this purpose, suitable mirrors or reversing cameras, which enable the vehicle driver to see the danger area, must be used on trucks. The driver of the vehicle is responsible for compliance with this safety regulation.

3.7 Any contamination that is caused in the tipping area when unloading the waste must be removed by the deliverer.

3.8 All vehicles that transport waste must be weighed on the company's weighing machine. When driving onto the machine, drivers must follow the instructions of the personnel and the traffic light system located there.

3.9 Avoid standing in the unloading and loading points unnecessarily. Transport vehicle drivers must do everything required to prevent accidents.

3.10 It is not permitted to enter buildings or plants located outside the delivery points of the TAS. This applies in particular to dangerous areas such as the bulky waste cutter.

3.11 Details regarding safe behaviour on the plant premises are contained in the operating regulations. This is handed out to every deliverer and visitor at the entrance gate and is attached here. Instructions from TAS personnel must be followed at all costs.

4 General terms and conditions regarding the acceptance of waste

4.1 The operator is not obliged to accept waste constantly, especially not if the plant malfunctions or is overloaded.

4.2 Each deliverer of waste is obliged to check that his delivery corresponds to the conditions required by the TAS. He must provide information about the type, condition and amount of the delivered waste on request of the TAS.

4.3 TAS personnel are entitled to check the waste. If necessary, waste can be rejected in part or in whole.

4.4 TAS also reserves the right to reject waste, stating a reason such as if it is not listed in the type catalogue, even after it has been unloaded.

4.5 Private deliveries cannot be accepted.

5 Transfer of ownership

5.1 The waste becomes the property of the TAS when unloaded.

5.2 The transfer of ownership excludes all materials that are not authorised for incineration according to the TAS waste type catalogue or are rejected for other reasons.

6 Liability

6.1 Persons entering and using the TAS do so at their own risk. The TAS assumes no liability for accidents involving persons or objects or any other harmful events in the entire TAS area.

6.2 Any liability on the part of the TAS for simple negligence on the part of their personnel or their agents is expressly excluded.

6.3 Each deliverer assumes full guarantee that the waste delivered fulfils the conditions of acceptance required by the TAS in each given case. The deliverer is liable even without fault in the case of damage caused by delivery of waste that is excluded from delivery or for which it turns out that it has harmful effects on persons or objects when stored and incinerated. Furthermore, each deliverer is liable for any damage caused to persons or objects of the TAS, their employees or agents.

6.4 There is no guarantee for the total incineration of the waste or materials delivered. No liability will be assumed for any possible misuse of waste before or after any incomplete incineration.

6.5 The TAS is not liable for costs that arise from the rejection of waste or if acceptance is stopped on account of operational disruptions.

7 Weighing

The weights of the waste are determined by the TAS calibrated weighing machine.

8 Final provision
